Well guys a sad day, I've been looking after a pair of 81c's for the past 5 years & despite them switching over to a Cisco platform in October & them having nothing but issues week in week out (that against 1 outage in 5 years with the Nortel) they've finally decided to switch off the perfectly functioning 81c's in the middle of this year.

:-(

Still I'm going to have soooo much fun watching an outsourced firm try to take apart an 81 when the don't know what hell their doing :)

This is becoming all too common these days when customers move over to IP to "save" money.

Perhaps it is a sign of the times when having a reliable phone system isn't as important for most customers as it used to be bearing in mind that other forms of communication exist nowadays such as email and mobiles etc.

I'm guessing the fear of no support from Avaya was also a factor which is odd when there are plenty of spares around, but that being said, it is often the IP applications that tip the decision when they aren't able to be updated or become a security concern such as Call Pilot or Contact Centre etc.

Such a shame, but this is what is happening.

Agree entirely - I've just decommisioned an old option 11 rls 25.40 with Mer mail and symposium express 3..

Has worked faultlessly for years with very little intervention, but now deemed too old to maintain..

It's been replaced with a IP office v2, which is fine but it just feels like working on any other computer..

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.
