I've got a system that has been randomly rebooting so I decided to load the software via DTE commands. I've done this many times before but this time I'm getting a message that says "TFTP Load Aborted (0x00000005)"

I have a bootp record with the proper MAC address and I also have it pointed to a IP500 bin file which should also be correct. I've disabled all of the other bootp entries.

It simply repeats the message:

ERROR: TFTP Load Aborted (0x00000005)
Erase Main Image Storage Area

Any ideas?

Did you try to turn off the firewall?
What are you using as tftp server?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

The firewall is off and I'm using Manager as my TFTP server. I think I may try to use another ip500 but it doesn't seem to have the default IP addresses in it. I'm using Hyperterm and can watch it start to load. Can I use it to determine the IP address of the system? The EthPhyId is 0x0143BC30.

Connect with the serial cable and type this: (thanks to Intrigrant!)

Well, this doesn't appear to have any software loaded on it either so the above commands didn't do anything. I'm right back where I was -- a box that I can't seem to load the base software onto. I'm back at my original unit because it at least gives me the repeating error messages like it is attempting to do something.

This is not good. The system is down and they open in a few hours. ugh...

Install wireshark and only use the network interface connected to the IPO.
Boot it and see which IP address appears for the tftp request.

Thank you for all of your suggestions. The debug thing will definitely be helpful in the future.

I don't know why but I started it for about the 50th time and this time it started loading the software. I have no idea but I'm not going to complain. I'm putting it back together and heading home.

Thanks again!!

Next time hold the reset button between 10 and 30 seconds (orange flashing of the CPU led on the back)
This will erase everything except for the software on the system.
