Hello,

I'm attempting to upgrade System Platform and System Manager. I'm following the docs and, the Avaya U course for first copying a file or files to the /home/admin folder and then copying them to the /vsp-template folder. I keep getting permision denied to both, copy a file and to create a new folder under /vsp-template. I am logging in as admin and then doing su - root and logging in with no problem. I'm at Sys Man 6.0 SP1 and vsp 6.0.0.1.11.

when you at /home/admin folder do an su - root/root01 then perform the command "chmod 777 *" then try to transfer the file to /vsp-template

Thank you uzumaki

I'm still not able to copy from one directory to the other.Any other ideas?

My /home/admin directory:

[root@daa30144pvp001 admin]# chmod -v 777 *
mode of `Sys_Man_6_0_SP2' retained as 0777 (rwxrwxrwx)
mode of `Sys_Plat_60105' retained as 0777 (rwxrwxrwx)

[admin@daa30144pvp001 ~]$ ls -l
total 8
drwxrwxrwx 2 admin susers 4096 Jan 10 11:53 Sys_Man_6_0_SP2
drwxrwxrwx 9 admin susers 4096 Jan 10 12:06 Sys_Plat_60105
[admin@daa30144pvp001 ~]$

When I run the copy command,

[root@daa30144pvp001 admin]# cp /home/admin/* /vsp-template
cp: omitting directory `/home/admin/Sys_Man_6_0_SP2'
cp: omitting directory `/home/admin/Sys_Plat_60105'

where are you performing the ssh connection? On DOM-0 or Utilities domain? It should work already. The process that I'm doing is that, I do an ssh connection on U-DOM, which i will land on /home/admin directory. I will upload the files onto this folder, then do su - root/sroot01, once root is success i will do "chmod 777 *" then i will do mv or cp command to /vsp-template.

Note: If you are trying to telnet DOM-O, you can only install templates on U-DOM not on DOM-0 (this is your Hypervisor)

What I did to get it to work:

did chmod -v 7777 * in both directorys
did cp -r /home/admin/file_name /vsp-template.

From google, apparently the -r can be useful copying files.
Can't say for sure if part or all of this was the key but it works and I'm happy.

Thanks for your help.
