We are getting ready to spin up a couple of vms for system and session managers v6.2. Initially, we are doing this to learn before we actually involve a business partner.

Our systems folks are balking at the spec, concerned that we are building a systems beefier than need be. Is there any leeway on the specs?

System Manager Specs from Avaya docs
CPU core: 4
CPU reservation: 9600 MHz
Min CPU speed based on Xeon E5620: 2.4 Ghz
Memory: 9 GB
Memory reservation: 9 GB
Storage reservation: 72 GB

Session Manager Specs from Avaya docs (Up to 1K Devices)
vCPUs: 2
Minimum vCPU Resources: 4,600 MHz
Memory: 4GB
Storage reservation: 150 GB

Not if you want to move ahead with a system you trust if issues occur .. then further down the line get support on .... you can try it but i doubt session manager will deploy

The doc said the VM's wont't even turn on w/o the specs being met. I'm literally doing this exact same thing in the next 24 hours with just SMGR first. Wondering if you may know the answer to this, because I have scoured all the AVAYA doc, but can't find this specific scenario:

I'm currently running a SMGR 6.3.9 on System Platform (hw). The VME install looks to be 6.3.2. I know upgrading to 6.3.9 is a pretty easy step. What I'm trying to find out is if I can backup the current SMGR data (not the sys plat info, since IP's etc. are changing) from the webconsole and then restore that into the VME after I get to the same version. Is that possible and if so is it a simple restore or do you need to run that data migration utility that's referenced?
