All,

TIA. We have a new client with an SX200 ELx. The printer port does not seem to work on the main cabinet. The system has three bays, so we switched Bay 1 with Bay 2. (Swapped all cards, BCC, Stratum III, etc, and fired it back up.) After swapping cards, the system came back online with no problem. However, we still cannot get the call accounting to work off of the printer port. The baud rates are set correctly, and the data in form 34 is correct. The call accounting is a Synectix PMS Lite.

On the call accounting, there are two indicator lights that illuminate when the serial connection is good. We have tried null modems, different cables, adjusting baud rates on the call accounting an on the Mitel, (port speed in Maintenance), to no avail.

The system had taken a lighting hit a few months ago. The InnLine 2020 voice mail was blasted, so was the TEL call accounting, and the Equinox serial adapter for interfaces. All have been replaced and are working, except for the call accounting. It all seems to be related to the printer port.

When connecting the SMDR cable to a printer port on a PerBay, the call accounting indicates that it is a good connection. But, printer ports on PerBays do not work, the only woring port on an SX200 is on the main cabinet. (everybody knows that). My question is, does anyone know if the printer port is controlled directly by the Stratum? Do you think it could be damaged?

Does anyone have any ideas on a work around? Should I move the call accounting and try to use the printer port on the back of the console? Will SMDR go through the port on the console?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have to tried to resume printer from SYSTEM MAINYENANCE? If the printer has been turned off or run out of paprer, the printer port will shut down. The RESUME PRINTER command will restart it.

NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!

Thanks for the reply. I should I have stated that I have restarted the printer in Maintenance already. I also tried stopping and restarting it. The printer does not have a PLID unless it is through a Dataset, right?

Did this ever work?

Yes, it did work prior to the lightning strike. I was thinking that the port had gotten blown, which is why I switched cabinets. I think the port pins out to the MCC, and that maybe it may be blown out. I am just hoping for suggestions on anything else to try.

as a shot in the dark, go on the port and do a control Q, then try it

Yeah, Ctrl-Q is good

Also set CDE print in form 34 to go to the printer and initiate a print from form 32 (print form 1 for example)

This will eliminate issues with SMDR

Control-Q is a new one for me. I connect my laptop directly to the port and hit Ctrl-q. What does that do?

TIA!

CTRL-S = Data Terminal Ready - Off
CTRL-Q = Data Terminal Ready - On

Software Flow Control.

Awesome! Thanks. I will give that a go. I really appreciate everyone's input and suggestions.
