Hi we have an SX2000 system here at my work and had an engineer here the other day doing some work on the system. We have always used the terminal to control the phone system. The engineer mentioned something about us assigning it an I.P address so that we could telnet from our network to it. Can anyone let me know how to do this or what commands we will need to give the system the I.P details.

Once i have this i shall patch it to our network.

thanks

If your SX-2000 is already connected to the network, it will already have an IP address.

From the command prompt, you can type "telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" to access the console.

FYI, the Fkeys will no longer function for choosing options such as key programming.

If it is not connected, it is probably not worth the effort.

thanks but how can i find out the i.p address or change the I.P address on the sx2000.

thanks

Login at installer level and type in ipconfig show.
This will show the IP Address details for the plane you are logged into.
For a redundant system login to the other plane and repeat.

thanks that shows me thet no I.P has been setup. what command do i need to use to enter the I.P details?

thanks everyone for there help.

ok
if you simply type ip <enter> the screen will respond with all qualifiers applicable; below are a few of them off my head

ip host = name your system
ip subnet = subnet mask
ip gate = default-gateway

ip commit = saves your changes

once you have done these settings the system requires a full reboot for changes to take affect.

If you have a redundant system then you need to do both planes.

Also to note for enabling the ethernet port on the MC3E's on a redundant system; you will need 2 static IP addresses, one for each control plane. The IP settings should be the same except for the IP Address. I'm sure y'all knew that, but sometimes you never know who's working on this stuff anymore...
