Quick question. I will be in a field office next week that has a SX-200 with a bunch of superset 4025's. I need to add 2 new 4025's to the system. Last time I was there I had a tough time figuring out how to add a new 4025 to the system. It appears it is full? Form 9 doesn't have any unused ports/rows that type=4025. All the available rows seem to be "STN" or "5220". Do I need to add hardware or is it just a matter of changing a setting to accommodate the 4025?

Thanks!

You need hardware.

4025 sets run on specific hardware. STN or 5020 ports would not be usable.

You need a 12 DNIC card that is installed in a peripheral cabinet. Each Per Cabinet can run up to 8 cards.

Depending on your software level, there are limits to how many ports the system can accomodate

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

Great! I'll pick up a DNIC card. Is it as simple as inserting it into the cabinet and adding sets via form 9?

Well a little more then just dropping it in, but not too difficult.

Things to check for:

Be sure you have a slot in the bay between 1 & 8 not populated.

Also on the back of the bay, you need to be sure that there is an amphenol connector connected to a 25 pair set of wires. On the other end it should be connected to a BIX rail. The bix block typically is punched with 12 on the left punch down 13 is open and then 12 on the right.

On the back of the bay, the "J" numbers correspond to the bay slots EG J1 on the back of bay is for slot 1 & 2 J2 is for slot 3 & 4 etc.

A free slot between 1 & 8.

If these conditions are met then get your DNIC card and pop it into the next slot after the other cards.

Log into the controller, and go to CDE and go choose form 1. If your bay is say 3, then scroll down to where you see BAY 03 and then the slot you put the card in.

Program the slot by going esc 1 for line cards and then esc 3 for digital.

In the form, it will will now say in the "programmed" column DIGITAL LINE CARD. It either may take a few moments for the "INSTALLED" column to register the by saying DIGITAL LINE CARD.

I can't remember, but if it does not see it with a reasonable amount of minuts, power off the bay and power it back on.

Confirm that is "INSTALLED".

from this point you can now go to form 9 and go esc 7 and then look for bay 3 slot 1 cct 1 <enter> (This is an example.

If everything went right you should have 12 new circuits for 4025's.
