SX-200 Analog Phone status

Hi Guys,

I am working on the SX-200 in one of my client's places with around 100+ analog handsets, they keep complaining about that the handset is down. most of the time they might had pulled the analog line wires.

So is there a way to find out in the SX-200 system that the analog handset is connected/Not connected to the ONS port. ? Like any kind of indication in the control system.

From what I have noticed until now the basic status report shows only "Idle" i.e the line is proper and working. But it's not confirming whether the handset is connected/Not connected to the ONS port.

Any suggestions are help full. It would be really great if there is a feature like that.

There is nothing ion the system that will tell you that a circuit is connected. You can open the circuit at the MDF and test with a VOM. If disconnected you should see an OPEN. If connected you should see in the United States, the FCC Part 68 specification defined 1 REN as equivalent to a 6930 Ω resistor in series with an 8 µF (microfarad) capacitor. The modern ANSI/TIA-968-B specification (August 2009) defines 1 REN as an impedance of 7000Ω at 20Hz (type A ringer), or 8000Ω from 15 Hz to 68 Hz (type B ringer) It's a lot of work to go through 100 extensions but it's the only test I know of to determine a connected device.

I suppose you're entitled to your opinion, I'm just not going to suppose very hard.
