Switching profiles causes shutdown

After replacing old scanner with new one the 'Spontaneous Shutdown' problem went away...more or less. Now when switching profiles the shutdown occurs. Again, I am baffled...any ideas? Other than switching to LINUX?

If you have a UPS, that may be the problem. THEY DO CAUSE SPONTANEOUS SHUTDOWNS that appear to be related to other devices. See Q105241 in the KB.

FYI ..

Adaptec Software was causing my problem. Once I removed the Adaptec software, all was OK.
