SV 8100 manuals/warranties

Hello, I telecom admin managing multiple sites for Nortel and new NEC SV8100 install. I am requesting operating manuals, software registration - something indicates it is registered to our company for ownership. Also user guides. The supplier sends copies of operational manuals as zip file. He said no hard copies come with the new equipment,or phone user guides, and voice mail. I cannot even read the voice mail flow chart. I said what about the phones, it should have a copy with each phone? Also what document do I need for hardware/software ownership and warranties? I received more documentation with used equipment vs. new equipment. Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated.
 
User guides can be downloaded from the NEC web site System registration has to be done by an authorized dealer, whoever you purchased it from. System manuals can be downloaded by an authorized dealer, or ordered through a dealer. PN 670850 is the documentation CD. They do not offer printed manuals anymore.
 
I appreciate the fast response and tips on the manauls, and do have more concerns: if the dealer registered - would it be under our company name or dealer? The phone system is not even working correctly which I need to resolve issues.

I want the warranties registered under our company name. Can that be done? I notice they used their name for passwords - usually the vendor would ask us what we want for passwords.
 
When registering a system, the dealer is supposed to put in the customer's information. This is so NEC has the information in case of a delaer issue (ex: going out of business). The system can be registered in the dealer's name, and it can be changed by the dealer with access to the NEC portal. As for issues, that needs to be worked out with the selling dealer, if necessary NEC can interviene, or you can call in another dealer. If you do that, then you will most likely be paying for their services.
 
Any warranties on the installation/programming of your system would be up to the vendor you used. NEC will only honor warranties of equipment malfunction within the specified time period (usually 1 year but NEC offers a 5 year at an added cost during purchase).

I appreciate the responses; due that the vendor has not been able to fix issues since install date 12/29/08, I need to know our options. If the vendor cannot fix the problem we need NEC expert tech that can get into the system. It appears that we have to keep this vendor until the 1 year warranty is completed. I do not know if they registered the system under our company name. User name: vendor, and a password is vendor name voice mail and PBX.
 
NEC's warranty is a warranty of the equipment, you should have a warranty on labor with your installer. You can call any NEC dealer to service your system, but you will have to pay for labor from a different vendor. What issues do you have with your system that have not been resolved. Have you escalated your issues with the company that did the install.
 
Once again I think the culprit here is lack of defined expectations. This is why it is so important to have a detailed scope-of-work when doing a new install. Salespeople often overlook this part and the customer is left feeling taken advantage of.

Also just a note for the other side of the fence, if you go with the cheapest bidder, chances are, you'll get the least value!

Great information for list of dealers, and I requested many changes on the agreement and scope of work which was a bad sign already prior. Now I am holding payment until the major issues are resolved. I will meet with project manager and owner today,and with the director of operations at my facilities. Wow there will be some heavy talk to get this install fixed. The problem too is that the phone system is quarter of mile from the main point of entry. Lots of feed cabling and not so great cross connects. I am currently managing Nortel network that occupancies from both sides of the street to the end. Our company is doing great and growing fast! I do agree cheap bidder is not good, and it was not my direction, it is proven to be a major setback.
