Subreport missing data first line every page

Here's the story...

CR9. Main report pulls data from one access database. The subreport compares areacode and prefix derived from a formula in the first database and compares it to the second database (access). It then sends back the location for the main report to show.

The problem...

Some of the longer reports are leaving off the subreport on the first line of each page.

Every record that comes back fits on one line. That includes fields, formulas and the subreport is in that same line. The databases are fairly large. The main database is probably 100k records and the location database is probably 500k records.

Thanks
Derek

I would suggest that you link the second Access database to the first within Access and expose a query as the source for the Crystal Report, it will be faster and makes more sense to do so at that level.

You might try applying the service pack, as I don't know of this issue:

Do you happen to be underlaying a section? I've seen this happen before.

I don't have any service packs. I am downloading it now.

Underlaying? Not sure what that is. What does it do? How would I check to see if it set that way?

Thanks.

Go to the section expert and highlight each section, checking each time to see if "Underlay following sections" is checked.

As far as the Underlay, none of the reports I looked at had that checked. One thing I noticed on the last one I ran, it worked on the last page but none of the rest.

Again, I think that you're trying to do this at the wrong level, you can LINK (not import) one to the other within Access, or even create a 3rd Access database if you don't have permission to modify wither existing database, create a Query within Access, and get the results you want plus increase performance.

Crystal is NOT an efficient database and will be slow when linking tabels across data sources.

As for the problem, I'd have to see it in action to understand it, and do some testing, but the approach should be revisited.

Here is the thread that outlines my experience with a missing record at the top of a page: thread149-394032. I never discovered the cause, but implemented a workaround that worked well enough.

synapsevampire,

The only problem with linking the two databases is this... The location database is always the same until it gets updated. The other database is new every month. I just delete (archive) the old database, and copy in the new one, rename it and start running the reports.
