Stop Parental Control Updates

I am using Norton Internet Security 2004. I have parental controls turned off. Nonetheless, whenever it does a Live Update, it gets URLs for parental controls and then spends half an hour (sometimes a lot longer) installing them. The computer is essentially unusable during this process. This is extremely annoying, and sometimes causes the system to hang.

What can I do to keep it from downloading the parental control updates?

You would probably need to disable live update, and do it all manually, thats my guess.

Taking a half hour to install the updates after downloading is WAY too long. Somethings amiss with that. I would suggest a spyware scan. Spyware is the leading cause of slow systems. Google for "adaware" from Lavasoft, and "spybot search and destroy" for starters, and update and run those.
