Got a line here with some on and off static issues coming through the handset. No static is being heard from the speaker portion of the phone.

Its a 2008.
Changed handset/handset cord
Changed entire phone itself
Changed the RJ11 phone cable itself
Tried putting it on a different port

Any ideas? Thanks.

Sound like you did good trouble shooting. They don't by chance have a cord "de-tangler" hanging off the handset do they?

Also look for any high voltage or ocillating devices in the area. Florescent lights, Fans, heating pads... Course they would likely affect both handset and handsfree, but I have seen stranger things happen.

No de-tanglers, although I know what you're talking about as I have a few of them in my drawer.

The line goes down along the wall a few inches up from the floor, behind a big dot matrix printer (but has distance between the two) and there was also a small boombox she has, but I even tried with that thing turned off and no difference.

Sometimes its constant and sometimes its not. When I first went to her desk, I heard nothing and when I came back later on I could hear what she was talking about. Apparantly, whoever is on the other end of the call hears it worse.

If you don't have room to chg feed. I assume you have 4 pr jack. mov both MDF & jack. Take the Blue pr off 4 & 5 and put the Brown pair on it.

Could still be a desk lamp.
This one got me for about a month straight. Lady kept calling in static on her phone and every damn time I went to check it she wasn't in her office and I could find NO trouble with her phone. Then one day she was in her office and I check it and it was Horrible. Cause was one of those new Florescent desk lamps that are becoming more and more popular. Of course everytime she left her office she turned off her desk lamp, and when I went in to check her phone the only thing I turned on was the overhead lights. Look around for any high voltage item she may be using periodically. If not that then you may have to end up running new cable to her desk (possibly shielded cable.)

We had a similar problem, but it was actually a bad power strap between the cube walls (of course that will induce humm/static into the line). So have a facilities persons check EVERY bit of power in the area.
