Static on Phone

I have a CICS. I have one phone in the building that is all Static when it is just sitting on the desk like the microphone is stuck on or somehting.. I have repunched the line and jack and no change .. I have also used a phone that I know is good and it does the same thing. Can anyone tell me what to try to get this phone fixed

Sometimes you get a background hissing noise if you have the background music turned on in programing on your system but dont have any music source turned on. If you dont have background music turn it off in system programing

Change ports, temporarily bridge the wiring to prove it good/bad, check for mid run failure points, and look for sources of induction along the wire run route.

If I do hit the handsfree button twice it says microphone muted and the hissing goes away and then when i hit a line then rls it comes back.. Could this be somehting else besides line problems.. Never had a problem for 3 years on this phone until today and nothing has changed

Did you ever get this problem resolved?
If not, do a FEATURE # 86 on the noisy set. As Bob3470 stated, it's probably background music with no source. Someone had hit the FEATURE 86.
I don't usually answer posts this old, but have been gone for 2 weeks, and didn't see if you resolved the problem or not.

I did solve this problem with your post. I disabled the background music but on that phone someone had pushed the 86 stuff. Thanks for the reply
