When the XPPro system starts up a system message

"The system has recovered from a serious error"

appears and as soon as it is closed it reappears. The details of the message are as follows:

"C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini080603-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Gary\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER2.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml"

I have no idea what any of this means or where to start to look for a resolution.
Please help.

You mean that you see this message on every startup? If so this will help you to resolve the problem:
If rather your concern is that you are seeing it for the first time, the reason for the error can be found by looking at your system log files. Start, run, eventmgr.msc

Under the System event file you should find with a little scrolling some red warning symbols. You can post the detailed message here if the reason for the error is not clear from the message.

Thank you gentlemen. The SP1 file didn't work but the work around did. Also found problems from running chkdsk which may have been contributing.
One thing now though... When I try to boot from the XP CD it says NTLDR is missing.
Thanks again

Call Microsoft and get a replacement CD. There is something seriously wrong with your CD image.

I had a question. My boss called me and was getting a similar error. It sounds like the memory dump error, but I can't find the error code anywhere.

BCCode: 100000ce BCP1: F78CD A00 BCP2: 00000000
BCP3: F78CDA00 BCP4: 00000000 OSVER: 5_1_2600 SP: 1_0
Product: 256_1

This is the error code he's getting. If anyone could tell me if this is the error code that goes with the memory dump error, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

FalkonisBack,

You need to look at the logs for more details.

Start, run, eventvwr.msc

Look in the System and Application log entries.
