How can I start a screen saver by myself rather than waiting for the OS to start it in the time specified by me? In the MS Office 2000, I could bring a shortcut to screen saver button to the quick launch and every time I click it - the screen saver would come on. I can't do it with MS Office XP or 2003 or Windows XP Pro. Someone - any hint? Thanks.

Not sure about the Office route but you can start a screensaver manually by creating a shortcut to it.

Most screensavers are stored as a *.scr file in the c:\windows\system32 folder. Create a shortcut to that file and then simply double click on it.

Can you make a shortcut to any desired screensaver (*.scr) in the System32 folder. Or use the Preview tab next to the Screensaver Settings on the Display Properties/ Screensaver.

You can also set a keyboard shortcut to the file, right click on your shortcut and select properties. Click into the "Shortcut Key" box and then press a key combination such as Ctrl-Alt-S, Click Apply, Click ok.

Now whenever you press that combination the screensaver will start.
