start menu icons disappeared

While I was deleting some old files I somehow did something to make my start menu icons disappear. All I have on my start menu now is: New document, Open office document and Windows Update. How can I get my icons back. I have w-98. Thanks.

Try this;

at step 3 (C:\) change to the Windows directory by typing the command below and hit enter
CD Windows

now your at C:\Windows...type this
deltree startm~1

and hit enter

start
run
type in GRPCONV /S
click ok, and it should put them back.
