Hi,

This is SQL Server 7 on an NT4 server with Service Pack 6

When the server is rebooted, we get a message from Service Control Manager saying "At least one service or driver failed during system startup."

The logs in Event Viewer show "The SQLServerAgent service hung on starting"

The SQLServerAgent service does eventually start... about 45 secs later.

** what could be causing the SQLServerAgent to be slow in starting ?

** Is there a time-out value that I can increase so the Agent can start without first giving this message?

Thanks, John

yesy there is. open EM -> SQL Server Group -> YourServer ->
Management -> right click SQL Server Agent -> properties->
Connection -> Login timeout

hard to say..

Try running this from a command prompt:
Code:
sqlagent.exe -c -v

Hopefully, it will give you a more detailed explanation.
