Hello,

I have a server with SQL Serve 2008 standard that expired. It is not a proudction server, and we have an MSDN subscription so we have a fully licensed copy to use.

My questions is that since it expired, can I just install another copy over it, leaving all databases intact so I do not lost any work, to make it work? Or is there something more complicated I have to do? Is there a way to just enter the activation key provided by my MSDN account to activate the expired copy?

Thanks,

Michael

You'll need to reinstall. That is the only place to enter in the key.

is it possible to reinstall the MSDN copy over the trial copy to keep all the work done with the trial version?

I am sorry, let me rephrase that, is it possible to install the MSDN copy over the existing copy? This way it keeps all the databases intact?

Thanks,

Michael

I believe that, that will work.
