I'm trying to get a spectralink 8020 set to register as a SIP set on a Mitel 3300ICP ver 4.2

I can get a free app on my iphone to work with the 3300 but not the spectralink, it won't register. The spectralink sees the SVP and gives dial tone which must be from the SVP, but when I push the line button it says "No SIP Server"

The 3300 is programmed as Generic SIP

Has anyone else had any luck with this? If so what are the settings from the TFTP SIP files. I have it setup as Version 2 at the moment.

Anything would help at this point.

After a lot of problems with these handset, I have it working using mms on the accespoints, not using the svp-server.

I also made extra files for each extension on the mitel:

sip_8022.cfg
# SIP Extension Specific Configuration file format example

LINE1 = 8022
LINE1_PROXY = 1
LINE1_CALLID = Spectralink, 8022 # tst-naam en nummer
LINE1_AUTH = 8022; 8022 # extn and pin

Maybe this wil help.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure what you mean by using mms on the access points.

I will try the sample config you posted and see if I can get rid of the SVP server.

Sorry, I meant that the accesspoint must be WMM capabel.
(wireless Multi Media)
This maintains the priority of voice applications in a Wi-Fi network so that other traffic are less likely to slow them. In this way, in a phone conversation, you are less likely to hear delays.

OK I will try that and see how it works, I assumed you had to use the SVP server with the 8020/8030 sets. I will try some access points we have in our office.

Thanks again!

Ive spent hours recently getting some spectralink 8030 phones working with Procurve MSM760 Access Controller w/ MSM430 Access Points with Mitel 3300 MXe MCD 4.2 .

Getting the phones to work wasnt to hard, the issue is getting the wireless to be stable on the phones. With WMM coming out in 2008 it is an alternative to setting up and having to buy a SVP Server.

If you have any questions, post and ill keep an eye on thread.

thanks

You currently don't need an SVP server to run the phones. Its only for QoS on large number of handsets on a busy WiFi network.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

make sure config files are correct and you have added the settings in the handset for TFTP server, SIP TFTP.

Also I think you need to set phone mode to 'type 36' and under QoS setting select admission control to 'optional'. This is from memory and will be for 8030 handsets but I wouldn't imagine it would be too different.
