Is anyone else having this issue? Since the upgrade I've been getting tons of Tek-Tips emails of forum messages for cryptocurrencies, unlocking a ransom encrypted hard drive, and as of yesterday, escort services. Here are 2 examples from my inbox:

The email's sent from address matches legitimate alerts from Tek-Tips, and the message body appears to be authentic coming from Tek-Tips . The email id I use is only for this forum. Left a message for the moderator and am waiting a reply. When I checked my profile, I found several forums that I was subscribed to which were not there before the upgrade, including this one, 'Making an Impression' (which I cleared).Capture.PNGCapture.PNG

I am sure everyone is getting this junk. That is what happens when one throws out the baby with the bathwater.

Quite why I'd be interested in escorts in the United Arab Emirates I'm not sure. I live in the UK and don't drive a Ford.

To prevent getting tons of Tek-Tips emails, you need uncheck all email notifications in your profile
I unchecked everything.

I've been offered escorts (sadly not the old Ford model) from around the world. I wrote a rule to delete them and have contacted Tek-Tips to notify them.

All these and other problems are the result of an unprofessional upgrade without proper preparation and testing.
Rather, they could have kept the old site up and running, just like with Eng-Tips https://www.eng-tips.com/

lol I am glad that mikrom posted a suggestion and I can stop the madness. Ciao

Yes I am now getting 3-5 emails from tektips everyday. It never used to be like that before.

Totally agree with @mikrom.
I've enjoyed using Tek-Tips over the years and have received some fantastic help which I have tried to repay by providing some in return. But it may well be time to say Goodbye.

Our apologies for this. These are from tek-tips and a result of spam posts that are triggering notifications from forums that you follow. We have been working through the spam configuration to block these posts over the last few days. As some have mentioned, you can make adjustments to the emails you receive to eliminate the notifications.

To stop all the span, I cleared the options to receive notices, emails, etc. as was suggested. But then again, I don't receive notice of the legitimate ones I DO want to know about. This solution would require me to log in multiple times a day and check all the forums I'm interested in. Sorry, but I don't have the time to do this; sadly this solution diminishes the value of Tek-Tips for all concerned. Appears the redesign has lots of unintended consequences that were not good for the tech community membership.

The settings in the profile are a global setting, that can be overridden on an individual forum or thread basis

Hi Jim,

The amount of spam notifications is on a trajectory to zero. I suggest following the communities you primarily interested in to limit the amount of notifications and you can expand as you get more comfortable with the notification frequency.

Then, do not disable all. You need to try it out what helps you.
I disabled all just to be sure, because I had the feeling that it wasn't working properly. But that was right after the upgrade. Maybe it's working properly now.
