Can someone explain this to me...

If I upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1 and I find a bug that wasn´t there in 8.0, I need to pay Avaya just to have the problem looked at by Avaya. I need to pay them to help them fix their problem? Is this really correct, because it just don´t make sense to me?

You got it. You need IPOSS to raise tickets to Avaya.

Not only is it not right it is probably also illegal (in the UK & Europe at least they may be able to get away with it in the US I dont know), you have either paid for an *.1 upgrade or bought new hardware either way it should be being resolved under warrantee.

We need to get together & make Avaya aware that this behaviour is unacceptable.
If they don't listen I expect it will soon have an adverse affect on their reputation & sales

send it back and ask for a full hardware and software refund. Thtas what you'd do with any other kit not fit for purpose.

And me who thought it was bad enough as it was...
I was the one doing all work, ie. taking the cost, for figuring out what the problem with Avayas product was. Once that was done I have to take the work (cost) of gathering all the information Avaya needs to take on the problem. So even before this I felt like Avaya rather should pay me for all the work I do for them. But no... now they charge me even more for even accepting all the work I do for them.
Doesn´t seem to be an all thoughtout strategy if Avaya still want us to help them out with staying in front of the competition. This will just have us stay on whatever release we´re on and use workarounds instead.

If it came to that Jamie I would also be claiming for the losses incurred in removing the system & installing the replacement.

unfortunately it seems the competition (ex Lawn Mower Company) behave in the same way so we will just have to suck it up.

Worked for a car dealership for a number of years and they have the model you are looking for, warranty work is paid on a flat rate basis authorized by the car manufacturer. This way the dealership does not incur the cost the manufacturer does, but alas that is not how we work and I think it would be impossible to move Avaya in that direction. But one can dream!! eh
