I have a new challenge that was presented to me this week.
We are looking at opening satellite offices with 1 - 5 people in each office.
These offices will be scattered over the country and eventually over the globe.
We are going to connect them via VPN over DSL.
They are wanting the users in these offices to be overflow for our call center.
I am thinking about my options of giving them the One X agent as a soft phone, or giving them a telephone and the One X agent.
My concerns are if they have these they are technically sitting in my office.
In the event of an emergency they dial 911 they will be calling from here.
I understand we can possibly set up separate trunks with the caller ID being their location, that doesn't really help me outside the country.
I am wondering if Avaya has a SOHO solution that will tie into the call center easily and be compatible with the CM.
Something that may have a few POTS lines attached that they can use for outbound in the event the VPN were to go down.

You could consider a G430 gateway and for 5 stations use SLS instead of a LSP

SLS is horrible to administer (I believe - never used it) but kina fits the bill

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Either that or a branch gateway , SLS for five users is easy to do but you lack things like caller id and music on hold , the branch gateway is probably a better way to go.

I'm getting the sense that this is price sensitive monty.

What's the cost difference?

Fair point well made , I don't have that info to hand but I would hope the branch is cheaper (but look what hope did !!)

Are your PSTN connections PRI or SIP? If SIP, depending on the service you have (especially what type of 911 you have), you should be able to acquire a local phone number for each office (also depending on whether the provider has international coverage, etc). Set it so that if somebody from x office dials 911, they send y ANI (one of the local phone numbers), problem solved... cheaply. That's what I'm doing currently.

Why not an Audiocodes MP112 analog gateway. Get an analog trunk at each site, trunk the Audiocodes to SM (or perhaps directly to CM) and based on IP address in the network map, network region, physical location etc, route 911 calls for that location to a little Audiocodes?

Thanks for all the info.
It is a tight budget so I have to keep it as inexpensive as possible.
Our PSTN is PRI. I am talking with our vendor now to see what we can do about 911.
Haven't played with the Audiocode gateway, sounds like a pretty good idea.
