Folks

Can anyone help?

I have been given the task of setting up a SOHO 97 for a ADSL connection.

I have been through the web management interace, and I have set it up. But I have a question.

I set up the ADSL\WAN address with a Static Address, and then I set the LAN address of the SOHO97 with a Static address on the same subnet as the ADSL\WAN interface. The CRWS web access seemed to accept this. But when I went to the Console Screen and tried to change the LAN IP address to another one, on the same Subnet as the ADSL\WAN interface, it came up with an error and refused!

I am using the SOHO97 as a ADSL modem, rather than a router, as the LAN side is connected to a SonicWall Firewall, which has a Static IP.

WAN LAN
195.32.46.54 ---- SOHO 97------195.32.46.55 255.255.255.0
255.255.255.0 |
|
|
195.32.46.56 (wan)
|
Sonicwall
|
10.10.10.1

I hope the above makes sense.

Can anyone help?

Cheers

Bert

you will want to use an IP unnumbered for the LAN interface.

It should look something like this (assuming that the ADSL interface is adsl 0).

Interface fastethernet 0
IP unnummbered ADSL 0

To simplify this, it basically bridges the two interfaces, and give the unit 1 IP address.

It is what it is!!

Thanks for the response.

One other question how do I create the above?

Bert

Do me a favor and post your config (minus routable IP addresses) so we can see what you are trying to do, and I will give you the commands and any recommendations.

Sorry for the delay, I have gone home now. To see if a Ican do a basic connection to the internet.

I am having trouble getting the CRWS, to do what I want.

I am getting a error saying my password for the ADSL connection is wrong. Its not!

Any ideas for a basic connection to ADSL using PPOA?

Thanks for the response.

computerhighguy,

Hi, I got the router to work on my own ADSL circuit last night. But could not check the correct setup as I do not have enough Static IP addresses.

Here is the config, as per the CRWS.

Having looked on the Cisco site, they mention about using the Cisco as a bridge, but the internet company is using DHCP on the WAN side of the CISCO, so the LAN side will have the static, and the Firewall will have another static address in the same subnet.

Do you think this should work? I have made sure the Cisco does not use NATS and the Firewall on the Cisco is switched off.
