Do I need to upgrade my system if nothing is wrong, to qualify for software assurance. I have a system that requires a full install because of flex dimensions and upgrades can not be done online. Customer doen't like the Idea of being down for a couple of hours. It's a hotel so down time is crusial. Any thoughts or word from Mitel. I could not get a stright answer, only that I could not let my system be 2 releases behind.

Mitel will still support the system if it is 2 releases behind but they will charge you for the previledge.

You cannot Upgrade the system between releases unless the SWA is active.

There is risk to the customer and to the service provider in letting a system get too far out of date.

What I propose for my Hotel customers to minimise downtime. Luckily I have this option, you may not have the required hardware.

- Take a system to site that is compatible with their hardware - LX - LX MX - MX
- Upgrade the Spare to the level required
- Backup the live system
- Restore to the spare system (No SysID installed)
- Once the restore is complete, swap hard drives.

Total downtime = about 45min. (3 per-nodes)
