Has anybody seen or used SocketMagix? It is a device to connect the admin port on a Merlin to a LAN ( Cost is around $600. Not sure if I am ready to spend that much, as I am an end user and now that the system is programmed, I don't need to adjust it that often, but it would be useful for saving me a trip into the phone room with the lame laptop that we have. Just wanted to hear some feedback on it.

By the way, fantastic forum - you folks have helped me answer so many questions without my even asking them! After my vendor went out of business, another vendor moved my Magix from my old office and I realized that he doesn't have any idea how to program it (all I kept hearing was "I could have sold you a system that I can program with my eyes closed)". So, I took it upon myself to do all of that work myself and have been pretty successful in it, with the help of this forum. Thanks.

That looks like a cool device. We have a old Merlin Legend. You can program just about everything from the “programming” phone. This did not help me when I had to change something from home. I ran another cat5 cable to my office. I connected console port directly to my serial port on my PC running SPM. Now via our VPN, I can connect to my PC from home (running PCAnywhere via our VPN) and change whatever needs to be changed :)

Gee, what's wrong with simply doing a "remote connect" from SPM. Either call in and ask to be transferred to *10, or set up a DID for DISA access. While you're in the office, do the remote connect from a T/P port and simply dial *10.
