Does anyone out there have any experence using SNMP Management software to monitor Alarms, Events, trunks etc.... on a G3 with communication Manager. What software are you using? Any experince with setup and use would be great.
I have this setup and working fine. The 8300 reports to Netview 6000 and Whats up Pro. One issue I've found is that the SNMP stuff will only report on the server side of things. For PBX stuff I continue use the automation included in the ASA product. Any other info you might need let me know.
Would you provide more insight into the Avaya Product monitor via SNMP like Which products does it monitor and what is the alarm level which is reported.
I would like to know from you if the Monitoring tool can monitor the Avaya products through SNMP and not report alarms to the NMS system through SNMP.
Thanks in Advance for the information.
Others in the Forum.
Would appericiate if any one could provide any information on Monitoring Avaya Products via IP and SNMP.
I use a version of open-source Nagios called Sentinix as a monitoring system. Takes work to get it up and running, but once it's there it's awesome. Coupled with a Win32 tray utility called NTray, we get SNMP alerts by popup windows, e-mail, or text-to-cell phone.
I haven't parsed the MIB for the 8300 yet, but if it doesn't have anything to monitor trunks (as mentioned above), then maybe Avaya should make an effort to add it; since the PRI terminates directly to the card, it's not like there's a CSU/DSU or inline probe to get traps from. Do AlarmTraq and IRISnGEN monitor trunks?
There is a MIB for the G700 downloadable from support.avaya that send a trap if the G700 loses its synce source (T-1)
Its helpful when you have LOS on a MM710. It should send a trap whenever the LED panel has a red
Hi All,
Thanks for you input. I was looking at the Avaya MIB and noticed that there are several entries for some of the basic commands that we use to monitor our system. I was hoping that I could take advantage of SNMP to alarm on conditions in the PBX. Here are some examples of how I think some of the system commands align with entries in the MIB. Can anyone give me some input on how this might be accomplished?
We use AlarmTraq to monitor all our Avaya systems via SNMP traps or traditional INADS. It will report all traps received and filter the alarms before notifying the techs via pagers, email, blackberry or web.
It will also act as a Proxy Agent to forward the traps that are seen as priority and send those to our NMS.
