I've deployed a ASMGR 7.0.0.0 ova server. I just attempted to install the 7.0.1.2 patch and received an error saying:

This System Manager Release 7.0.1.2 needs to be installed on System Manager Release 7.0 GA template..The currently installed System Manager Release is older than System Manager 7.0 GA, hence aborting the current patch installation.

Did I miss a patch along the way?

my build is: System Manager 7.0.0.0
Build No. - 7.0.0.0.16266-7.0.9.0
Details

the patch # I'm failing w/is: System_Manager_7.0.1.2_r701216007

I just deployed an all new System Manager 7.1 to avoid the above and I'm unable to login via the CLI using admin, nor am I able to use winscp with the admin account. I originally used the default admin account and was prompted to change it, which I did. Every time I attempt to access with it the screen just closes out. I can log directly in with root, but I get a message indicating to install a mandatory patch. I'm trying to do that, but I can't login. Any guidance would be of extreme help.

I'm rambling, but scrambling to get past this. In addition to the above symptoms the web was not accessible. I read through a levy of threads and deleted a mentioned lock file. I also started jboss. Those things made the web page appear at least, but just sat there with 'system initialization in progress, log in at a later time'. Also, from the console the message about an installation in progress went away and I was left with a message about installing a mandatory patch. That I was aware was normal. I'm pretty much stuck at this point. trying to login as admin is still an issue.. it accepts the pwrd, but the window just immediately closes and on the vmware console it just reverts to the login prompt. I accessed the /var/log/Avaya/PostDeployLogs/
post_install_sp.loginstall log file and I do not have a 'success'. I get this at the tail end --

clear /opt/avaya/jboss/6.1.0/jboss-as/server/avmgmt/conf/quantum-config/delayoperationalstartup flag file
One or more undeployed folders already exist - aborting...
SMGR :: execution failure: execution of script configurereducedstartupmode.sh - exit status 5.

That's really odd that you have that many issues with an ova. It does take a pretty decent amount of time for it to fully install.. like 20 really solid minutes. I know SMGR asks for alot of pre-config before powering up.. I'd re-validate that and even check the network adapter settings in vmware. I'd probably wipe the slate clean and start fresh. Let it go through its process and fully complete before you tinker with it.

Also check the MD5 hash on the file and make sure your download is not corrupt.
