can any one tell me why the computer take long time to boot - to load bios? (the logo of motherboard stays too long before it detects the operation system)? Also, am having the same problem with windows 2000 professional. it takes too much time to load? I wonder what will be the possibilities?

Thank you

If you let us know what equipment you have we may have a chance of helping you.

Exactly how long do they take to boot?

Is 'Quick Boot'(or similar) enabled in BIOS?

You can disable the "show motherboard logo" in the bios.
This makes you see the normat bios post screen .

I've seen this happen with cheap motherboards, especially any made by a company called PC-Chips, or some of their "alternate" brand names, but I forget what they are.

If that's the case, the only solution is replacing the motherboard.

You just need to see what is loading. Go to the msconfig and see what you have in the startup. It is the last tab. Unless your a technican don't mess with the other tabs. If you have a lot of items listed in the startup tab I would suggest that you uncheck the programs that you loaded that went there, i.e. msnmessenger as an example doesn't need to be checked. If your running aol then it will put itself in there. Things like that. You must remember that only uncheck those that you know are programs that you loaded.
