Dear,
I have two issues which i need to confirm if it works
1) Have two sites ( Avaya Ip office and Panasonic_- I same extension series at both sides.
I want to have a prefix at both sides when they want to reach the other side..
Problem is extension series --- extensions have 1XX,2XX,3XX,4XX ,5XX series... how can i give a prefix 2 and 1 for dialing either sides?

2) want to setup internal auto attendant to users.
they just wan to dial internal numnber which will prompt/ options for press 1 and 2 and so on
is this possible with voice mail collect options? and can they choose to dial the numbers after hearing hte prompts??

thanks

I know little about Panasonic but I know you can use a prefix to send a number over a specific line like 8XXX, send it to IP Office and on Panasonic you can call any number on IP Office.
In IP Office you can use shortcodes to send calls over a specific line so as a example you line ID to Panasonic is 30 you might create a shortcode like this
SC = 8XXX
TN = N
Line ID = 30
Action = Dial
Now you can call any number on Panasonic dialling 8xxx on IP Office.

You can also set it up that the remote user see 8xxx in display to make it possible to call back, then the TN in the shortcode is 8N and in Panasonic add the prefix 8 to the dialled number.
For incoming calls on Avaya you need to strip the prefix in the trunk settings and on Panasonic i don't know how, but it works in our lab to the NS1000.

The tie line between Panasonic can be a H.323 or a ISDN PRI Qsig or a SIP trunk, we have all three on our lab system to a NS1000 and a TDE600.
On IP Office you need either Voice Networking licenses for the Qsig or the H.323 line or SIP channel licenses for the SIP trunk, i don't know about licensing on Panasonic.

I don't know what you mean, if the above works why a Attendand?

HI,
Thanks for the reply..
putting prefix 8 is fine. but can i somehow have the prefix "2" for the other site? issue is my extensions are also starting with 2XX in Avaya.
Auto attendant i require in Avaya , as i have some groups which for support, so i need to give an option to internal users to reach then accordingly.

thanks

Using prefixes is independent of the extension numbers.

As you said in the first post both sites have overlapping numbers so you cannot use a closed numbering scheme, google that.

In IP Office you can create a shortode like 888 to access a AA
SC = 888
Action = Auto Attendant
TN = "AA:Name Of The AA"lINE id = 0

On the Pana call to 8888 to access the AA in IPO.

Hi Intrigrant,

Will i be able to configure by any chance the way i want?

My AVAYA iP OFFICE --1xx, 2xx, 3xx

PANASONIC--- 1xx, 2xx, 3xx

1 WANT A PREFIX "2" TO DIAL TO AVAYA AND PREFIX "1" TO DIAL TO PANASONIC ,

By the way Thanks for the auto attendant solution ..

Thanks again..

No. Because you have overlapping numbers.
This would only work if the number ranges are different with a four digit internal numbering plan e.g. 1xxx for ipo and 2xxx for pana.

does that mean you will dial 21xx, 22xx and 23xx for the Avaya and 11xx,12xx and 13xx for the Panasonic?

so adding an extra digit in front of the actual number to separate?
not sure if I get it right here

but if you do you can do that from the Avaya side incoming as well as outgoing only if you en bloc dial on the phones becasue otherwise the system will dial the users as soon as the dialing process matches an extension. So 11xx would find a match after 11x will dial the user locally immediately rather than waiting for the last digit and then dial except if you increase the dial delay count to 4 so that it will wait.
Tricky job

easier to just renumber them all (takes 10 seconds in IPO)
not sure how easy it is in the Panasonic but can't see it being impossible.

Hi,
@intigrant -- i did propose it before, there was change in plans and i was lost with the prefix. and i kept the 3 digit as extensions
@westi -- do i keep the 3 digit extension or should i make it 4 digit.
by default delay count is 4. so will it work? 22XX 23XX 21XX from Avaya to Panasonic?
so if the user dial 220 it will dial its own local extension and if the user dials 2200 will it dial the other end??

how should i enable it?

Thanks

Appearently you have not done this before.
Liking two or more systems can be done in two ways.
1 with a open numbering plan, then each site needs a access code
2 with a closed numbering plan, then each extension/group/shortcode(aka target number) within the network of systems needs to be unique.

With option one a user dials the access code (aka node number) and the to call target, with option 2 the user just dials the target number.

Thus if you want option 1 then you need to program a access code towards the remote site, with option two you must renumber the systems to get unique numbers along the systems.

Change your IP office extensions to be in the 2000's. 21xx, 22xx, 23xx

Change your Panasonic extensions to be in the 1000's. 11xx, 12xx, 13xx

Now your numbers are unique

On the IPO, short code 1XXX / Dial 1N / Line Group of the line to the Panasonic.

I'm sure you can do something similar of the Panasonic, 2xxx dial 2N towards the IPO

Hi,
@intrigrant.. I wanted to use Option One.
But then again as you said if i use a code suppose "1" then i cant have extension to my system to start with the same number..
I wanted some ways where we can do this as my series is 3 digit, some way if i can induce delay and make the system understand that 1XXX is other side and 1XX is my own site,...

Thanks for your patience again,,,

That is impossible if you dont have a closed numbering scheme.
What is the problem with dialling one extra digit, it takes only about 200 mSec to press a button.
In fact on IP Office it is possible but then you introduce a delay of at least 3 seconds when calling a internal extension, they will hate you for that, believe me.

HI,
You are right, i have a requirement to connect more than 6 sites, so having just one number prefix will make matters worse.
so i have "XX" two numbers as prefix now so atleast get an option of having connection to more sites. and reserve the rest of the starting digit numbers..
thanks

At first you mentioned 2 sites which must be rabbits as by now there are six, what will it be next month?[bigsmile]

Nice you have a solution anyway.
