Bravo,

With the help of an expert, I was able to get the Nortel IP phones to achieve 2 way conversation on the BCM50 RLS 5 and the BSR222 Router.

It required:
-signing up for a different VOIP service called voip.ms that allowed NAT traversal, Nexvortex didn't
-routing all VOIP calls on Lines 1-4 through the call recording feature, so that the calls would route through the BCM right to the IP phones
-turning off SIP ALG on the router

Hey Leftbase,

Thank you for your reply.

It's amazing how well this all works, its just like having a PRI for a fraction of the cost.....

I have to compile all of my details together and will send you something once I make sure I double check everything. Looking forward to sharing!

Ok everyone including leftbase, here is how we were able to get the sip trunks working on the bcm50 5.0 with the bsr222.

First sign up for a voip service that allows Nat traversal. Be sure your BCM is connected to the internet, in my case I am using a 3.0 speed dsl connection.

Activate the ip trunks via the sip trunk gateway keycodes, not the voip gateway keycodes. These tend to be expensive, but I did find a company named on google search that offered the keycodes for 200$.

Next turn off sip alg in the router settings on the bsr 222.

On element manager under telephony resources make sure your up trunks are active and then go into the setting for them. Simply pull up the authentication tab and enter the username and password from the sip trunk provider. Under the proxy tab, enter all the required information such as their domain name and up address if required.

Lastly, under call recording, set up lines 1 thru 4 or however many ip lines you have active to route through the call recording feature. You can set up a bogus email address unless you really want to record all calls. This pushes the calls from the ip trunks through the BCM and the calls route to the 1140e phones like magic.

That's the best I can remember here on my vacation I am not in front of the BCM.
