Hey folks.

Details first - IPO 500v2 Release 11.0 SP 2. SIP trunks from Shaw.

I've got my first SIP trunk install (go Canada, only a decade behind the times!). I've got the trunk working, incoming calls using ICR, outgoing calls using the USER | SIP tab for caller ID.

My issue is that I'm only getting the number displayed on the phone for incoming calls. I've tested from various sources including having my wife call from my home land line.

Incoming invite looks like the below. I've obscured info as follows
??????8784 is the number that I called on the IPO
INCOMING NUMBER is the number that I am calling from -- this is displayed on the ringing handset
FTC-Person is the my outgoing CLID name. -- this is what I want displayed and is not
1XX.1XX.1XX.1XX is an IP address

As I said, calls are routing fine and audio is fine. The incoming number is displayed but the incoming name, delivered as part of the From info on the invite is not. I've tried changing the Caller ID from From Header checkbox but it does not seem to change anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

The name in the FROM: line should be in the Contact: line
From: "FTC-Person" <sip:INCOMING NUMBER@1XX.1XX.1XX.1XX>;tag=3az08CluCUROZzRn04754ECFE360d83c
Contact: <sip:INCOMING NUMBER@1XX.1XX.1XX.1XX:5060>

It is a provider issue

Thanks intrigrant.

In your experience, is this something that you can work with the provider to change or is my customer just stuck getting number only?

The IP Office SIP line can retrieve caller number and name from the From header when the following is enabled:
SIP Line --> SIP Advanced --> Caller ID from From header

I'm in Canada, lived here all my life. I've been using SIP trunks since 2005. Our office moved from PRI to SIP in 2008. Not sure how Canada is "only a decade behind the times"???

@redphone

I've tried the setting you mention and it does nothing. The address in the From field is still the number@thedomain with the alias (?) in quotes in front of it. It may pull from the address but doesn't help with grabbing the info I want.

@TheMitelGuy

I'm out in the prairies so maybe that makes the difference. The telcos have just started offering SIP as an alternative to PRI out here. You could get SIP from a few 3rd parties but no one out here was interested in them without a very good reason. This happens to be the first system I've done with SIP trunks to a service provider and not another device (and I've been in the game since 2001).
