Hi all,
I am newby for Avaya. I need some helps.

I have 2 questions:
1.
Is it possible to configure Avaya IP Office Small Office Edition and Avaya IP Office - 406 as a SIP PBXs?
(As far as i know, only IP Office 406 can be configured as SIP PBX)

2.
Is it possible to use other kind of SIP phones (LG, CISCO, Nortel) with Avaya IP Office Small Office Edition and Avaya IP Office - 406 ?

Thanks in advance.

SIP trunking is supported on all devices that support firmware 4.0 or higher

So
Small office Edition - SIP trunking supported
IP406v2 - depends on PCS version
IP500 - SIP trunking supported
IP412 - SIP trunking supported

No IP office device at any firmware level supports SIP extensions (yet)

Take Care

Matt
I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Thank you for your quick response.

So i need Avaya SIP phones and firmware 4.0 or higher to configure Avaya Small Office Edition.

Could you please explain what kind of dependency on PCS version for IP406v2?

Sorry for my easy questions. I am just trying to understand clearly what i need in order to configure Avaya IP Office Small Office Edition and Avaya IP Office - 406 as a SIP PBX.

Thank you very much.

Avaya SIP phones - NO
any phone on the system can use the SIP lines as long as you have VCM channels (Small Office comes with them 406 needs a VCM module installed)
if you are trying to connect them together with a SIP trunk then I am not sure if that works but I think I remember that somebody made it work here on the forum but H.323 is so much easier to make them connect to each other.
406V2 any version can do it because Avaya will still trade the lower versions in for one that makes the jump to R4.0 and higher.
this is where you can find the PCN notice

If you can't be good, be good at it!

The IP Office currently does not support SIP endpoints only SIP trunks.

5.0 may well support SIP endpoints ;-)

That would be beautiful because it would allow us to use IP Turrets for traders!

Some other nice sip equipment out there, i.e. the SIP Polycom conference phone.

I was just guessing, being as Avaya are a forward thinking company on the cutting edge of telephony technology it would be the next logical step for them. :) I may well be following Mr Sizbut anyway, as anyone from the UK will know "points make pedestrians"....I'm in court Wed so prob out of a job Thu. :-(....In the words of Ronan Keating "Life is a rollercoaster just gotta ride it" :)
