SIP softphone feature access code issue.

I have a generic SIP extension configured and it works fine.
If I wanted to remotely put my desk phone into DND using the SIP phone I can dial *61458 and my DND light turns on. If I want to disable DND I can dial *62458 from my SIP phone and the light goes off so I know the SIP phone can access feature codes.

The problem is I cannot activate Call Fwd Follow Me. From any desk phone if I dial **65 458 (NUMBER) it will change my call forward on 458 to whatever number I put in but if I attempt to dial **65 from the sip phone it says Not available.

I even changed the call fwd codes from **65 to just *65 and tried it and it still failed however I can use it just fine from any mitel hand set just not a SIP device. I have tried a couple different soft phones and both act the same way.

This has to be a setting for SIP devices but the only thing its affecting is the ability to change call forward as it appears I can access other feature codes.

Any ideas?

What puzzles me is that it looks like the SIP device is sending it to the 3300, but not as one string. If you dial a 4 digit number that is placed in the Speeddial to contain **65458 and the number, what happens then?

Can you program an "Alternate Code" in the feature codes list that doesn't have a * or #?

Depending on the SIP device they may have their own dial plan that you might have to tweak. I know a lot of SIP devices don't like *'s or #'s

Is third party call forwarding allowed in the cos for the sip device

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

The codes do not need to be * or # and I have tested it by changing it to a standard numer but it still does not work with SIP phone. Also one thing I tried was I created a system speed dial 655 and programmed that to be **65650458 when I dial 655 on any desk phone call fowarding gets updated on 650 to 458 but if I dial 650 from a soft phone it says Not Available.

Odd huh?

I am not the best at configuring this system but I can get around. When you suggest the dialing plan where would I look for this? I can tell you that the SIP extension is configures the same as my deskphone in that it can dial out, long distance etc but there may be something I am mising too.

Thanks.

On many SIP phones there is a dial plan that needs to be configured. This is on the PHONE NOT on the 3300. Are you saying that you can dial out on the SIP phone using its keypad without any problems?

Ok that makes sense. I can dial to any extension, any external phone from my SIP phone without issue. I can even access many of the feature codes without problems either but I cannot access the Call Fwd feature access code. Only thing I can think of is since the SIP phone does not have a call forwarding feature the 3300 is not allowing it to access that part of the system.

I can only point you at Billz66 question above and ask if you can do any of the call forward options on the sip phone or is it it just call fwd follow mw that doesn't work?

I cannot do any call fwd options on the Sip phone.

Then refer to Billz66's post and check the COS assigned to your SIP extension.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

The class of service the SIP phone is using is the same class of service that the desktop phones are using.

Please disregard that last post. After I started looking deeper the system had my desk phone setup differently than the standard desk phones which mine allowed for call fwd and the standard phones do not. I matched the sip phone to my desk phone and it worked. A complete oversite on my part. Boy I feel dumb. Thank you to everyone that helped me on this it is now working and this thread can be closed.

I tell my techs , always check COS first if a feature isnt working , probably 80-90% thats the fix

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....
