I have a 3300 with 7.1 and SIP configured, I can see in the logs that the 3300 can talk with the SIP Proxy and register but when I place a call I get:

Log Type: Maintenance
Log Number: 4830
Severity: Warning
Date: 2007/Mar/22
Time: 12:06:10
Source: SIP_SSM_APP
Description: Authentication failure - 403 received Recent failure count 1 in last 0 seconds Total failure count 52 Type of call : Outgoing Route 7 Link NetCall_1 From 192.168.2.210 To NetCall
Module: SIP_SSM_APP
File Name and Line Number: MaintenanceLog;0

What type of Authentication is this, because all the authentication is done by the 3300 and not when a call is placed. The SIP operator tells me that they don't receive any call invite and that the 3300 is registered, but I keep getting this error.

This was already working and stopped working last week without any changes on the configuration. Could it be a forced reboot caused by a power outage that caused this?

Best regards,

Rui Cordeiro

Hi,

I solved this changing a option in the SIP authentication. My SIP provider changed the way they did the authentication and the system stop to authenticate, changing that option allow everything to work again.
Unfortunately I don't remember that option (it was some months ago...) but I'm sure it's something on the SIP config (maybe a check box).

Regards,

Rui Cordeiro

On the Mitel side, I remember it's just a check box, but I don't remember the correct one... sorry.

Regards

RC

You should not require authenication on the Mitel side, as long as your input the IP address (gateway) on the Exchange side.

I had the same problem on site last week, i removed the authentication and it started to work again. Try removing and see how far you get?
