SIP Incoming Call Route Issue

I have an IP500 system running 4.1 and embedded voicemail.

SIP trunks setup from Mcleod.

The SIP's come in through virtual users and are then forwarded to a hunt group.

The incoming calls work fine, until you want voicemail or auto attendant to work. I tried to setup voicemail on the hunt group the SIP lines are forwarded to. However, the voicemail reverts back to the virtual user that forwarded it to the hunt group and leaves the message there instead of the hunt groups voicemail. If I disable voicemail on that virtual user, then it goes into a loop and just rings and rings.

Is there a way to forward the call and have it "forget" the originating user? Or perhaps another way to set this up?

Thanks in advance.

Why do you use virtual users?!

It works! Now if only I could remember what I did...

That was the instructions from the SIP Trunk provider. Attached are their instructions.

They instruct you to assign a DID to each user, but I want to setup 6 lines that don't go to specific users, therefore we setup the fake users, then were forwarding that to a hunt group.

The setup we would like is:

6 Business Lines all set to ring to a Hunt Group, then overflow to an AA. The AA will have a list of names for people to enter, and the option to go to the hunt group mailbox.

There are 12 phones, I want to assign each of them their own DID so each user has their own direct phone number as well.

Am I making sense?

It doesn't say you have to use users, it just gives an example of how to get a SIP DDI to a user.

I have found to route to groups the tel No. (URI) has to exist in the URI tab in the SIP line form AND in the ICR.

For some reason the numbers have to exist in 2 places. god only knows why.

Fooball is not a matter of life and death-It is far more important!!!!

Thank you,

I will take a look at that and see what I can get done.

Needless to say, this is my first experience with SIP trunks, still trying to wrap my head around the system.

It worked, thank you very much. This is all starting to come together for me.

I've got the ICR, voicemail and AA working.

I have found that it varies whether the SIP provider requires the URI info or not.

I have a new issue.

I have 6 lines coming in that are general business lines that are routed to a hunt group.

Each of the 11 phones have their own direct dial number. I have setup those numbers in the ICR, and entered the SIP numbers in each user. When they call out, the caller ID shows their direct number, but the customer wants it to show the main business line number. What do I need to setup to make that happen?

set up 1 main uri in sip, eg. main number 123456, assign it a unique outgoing trunk number, e.g. 7. Set the sip uri to use Authentication name, i.e. main number 123456

for all calls out set the short code to use trunk group 7 above.
