I have a customer with a BCM 400 SW 3.7 with a Smart UPS 1400xl.
This has been installed for over 10 years now and is pretty good condition. I believe the batteries need to be replaced on the UPS.
I also need to graceful shutdown the BCM and restart it because all 8 Analog ports are only provding battery and no dial tone and I want to see if a shutdown and restart will resolve this issue or if the Analog Service Module is bad.
What is the best procedure for shutting down the BCM and changing the batteries?
I found this thread regarding the UPS and BCM so I am wondering if I should just let the batteries run down and let the UPS do the Graceful Shutdown.

From the Bcm4.0 Installation and Maintenance Guide;Uninterruptable power supplyAn uninterruptable power supply (UPS) is an optional device that maintains continuous operationduring power interruption or failure conditions. The UPS provides power source monitoring andbattery backup activation so that critical BCM functionality is maintained. In a power failure situation, the UPS provides sufficient time to either correct the problem oractivate a contingency plan to sustain services. The UPS is configured to perform a gracefulshutdown of the BCM 2 minutes before the UPS battery power is drained. The BCM system supports American Power Conversion (APC) UPS devices that use a USBcontrol interface. These include the APC UPS-Smart family (for example, UPS-Smart 750,UPS-Smart 1000) and UPS-Back family (for example, UPS-Back 500 ES, UPS-Back 350 ES).The UPS control software enables the configuration of various operational settings. On BCM systems with more than one unit, the power supplies for all of the units must beconnected to a single UPS.The UPS feature is supported in all markets (110~120V and 220~240V power standards).Supported on previous Bcm versions as well.
