I am making some cat6 cable using punchdown jacks. I used a tutorial on youtube and a punchdown tool to do it, but now on my cable tester the shield light doesn't light up. The instructions aren't clear on what to do in this case. Lights 1-8 light up in sequence on both ends. What does the shield light indicate?

Shield light on cable tester

It's this one.
I originally put the cable together but i had 2 wires reversed. At that time the shield light worked. I cut the end that was wrong off and did it again with a new keystone jack and now all wires are good but no shield light.

the instructions don't mention "shield" I don't see a shield light in the illustration

THe one I have is the 1594
which of course has no instructions link. For interpreting the results it has a chart of examples.

Looks like your shield is open. Try with a known good cable to make sure it's not the tester.
