I'm running Windows XP Pro 32-bit OS.

I have run the Windows Installer Cleanup program to remove all previous junk and reinstalled Office XP Pro 2002.

When I try to start a new message: here is what is said...
"Cannot create the e-mail message because a data file to send and receive messages could not be found. To add a data file, such as a personal folder file, double-clink the Mail icon in Windows Control Panel."

The Personal Data File IS there.

When I try to send and receive mail here is what is said:
"Could not open the item. Try again."

I have email accounts that are sent up and tested & are working (via testing accounts).

I have great faith in this website, based on what I've seen so far.

Thanks,
jb

When prompted, please create a backup of the file, just in case the repair utility does some crazy stuff to it.

Note: You're probably going to lose some information even if the repair is successful.

Take a look at the SIZE of the PST file BEFORE you repair it and report back. There are size considerations for Outlook 2002.

Goombawaho, is this the 2Gb limit I've heard mentioned? And does it apply to Outlook 2003 as well?

Thanks so much for all of your help, it did work, and wouldn't you know that once I got it fixed.. a buddy of mine heard about this and gave me a new copy that he had and I will be able to activate it too. Figures...

Thanks anyway.

There's a 2GB limit, but I can't recall if it died when Outlook 2003 or 2007 came out. I believe 2003 was ok with bigger files.

But, I'm too lazy right now to verify, so do a search for "outlook 2GB PST limit".
