I have a old Bay Networks ARN with only a 8mb flash card. The only way I can configure it is to use the TI commands "which I do not know". What I need to do is change the IP#'s for this box.
Here is a list of some of the things I have found.

[1:1]$ list wfIp*
wfIpBase = 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.5.3.2.1.1

boot config=local

NetBoot Parameters:
XCVR1...IP=10.10.5.1,Mask=255.255.255.0,
NextHop=10.10.5.100
COM1....EZ-Install

I have changed XCVR1 to IP # 10.10.5.1 using 'ifconfig'

What I need to do is reassign the Ethernet port and the T1 serial port new IP numbers.
Can someone please tell me how to change IP#'s 65.119.123.102 and 67.131.155.97. I think it is the "set command" but I have not yet came across the correct syntax.
I have tried commands like
set ipAddrEntry.ipAdEntAddr.1 10.10.5.10

Please HELP

Thank you,
Jim Wilson

Changing IP addresses with MIBS is complicated and best left unattempted; there are other ways.

What version of code is running on that box? You can discover this by typing STAMP at the command line and pressing enter.

The version and the Flash card directory are shown below.

The 12.01 code was one of the first attempts to run BCC, Bay Command Console, and it didn't work very well. I think your best bet is to boot clean and run a new config. Save the old one first and if you can't get it working you can always boot back to the one you had earlier.

If you are not too worried about any of the config which may be in the router and just need two interfaces configured fo IP and routing you can:

1) Save the current config under another name (in case you
want to go back to it).
copy config config.bak
2) Boot the router to a clean config.
boot arn.exe ti_arn.cfg
3) Run inst_arn.bat and it will step you through getting
the interfaces configured.

I did not think this would be easy.
Yes I need the T1 configuration. I couldn't begin to set that up. lol

Thanks for the advice,
Jim Wilson

If anyone else knows how to change the IP numbers please let me know.

The install script does step you through setting up the physical interface as well as IP and routing. Give it a try because as long as you save the original config under another name you can always return to where you started from by issuing the boot arn.exe <config file name> command.

Have you tried Site Manager,
It should be available for free download on the Nortel Website.
