Just received my 2 Avaya Dell R210 servers for this project. I provisioned one as the primary and other for secondary. Upgraded them both to 9.1. The Primary will not let me login. It will not recognize my password. The secondary comes up just fine. I can't re-install the software because the servers do not include the dvd or usb controllers. How can I re-provision the secondary to be the primary?
I need to get this installation started while I wait for a replacement server from the supplier.
If you can offer any way to recover my password or access please let me know too.

Can't you get in to security settings?

Your choice of beans, chicken, be-be-beef, or pork

Why not download the ISO and then reinstall the primary server?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

just receaved two server aswell to load as an application server.

was planning to load a fresh copy of 9.1 however i cant even get that far!!

One server is now refusing to boot
The second hangs at Testing Memory Bios REvision 1.1.1

when It dose run it cant see teh dvd drive to boot from.

It looks like the dvd drive port was disabled in the Bios.

Away to phone dell as it appeasrs to have next day warenty up untill May 30, 2018 :)

Thanks guys for replying.
I can't get to any settings because the root password is something other than what I entered during the ignition process. And, I can't boot from the dvd or usb drive to re-install because it appears Dell didn't include the controllers.

I installed 9.1 on Dell R210 from DVD as well as from USB.

I would think you didn't watch the used keyboard layout when setting password...

I would double check the media you are installing from. Did you burn this .ISO yourself?

It's only dialtone!!!

Let me be clear, again. There is no usb or DVD controller installed on this Avaya server. I guess they've chosen not to provide it from Dell. There is no way to re-image from a usb or DVD.
"I would double check the media you are installing from. Did you burn this .ISO yourself?" I downloaded it myself from Avaya and uploaded the image from the Web interface. Under Solution > Transfer ISO.
I RMA'd the server. Maybe the new one will come up the way its supposed to. With controllers for USB and DVD, yeah right.

Finally got the servers working

1. Server randomly reboots
Helps if power cable is fully home at both ends. :)

2. The DVD drive is not recognised
The bios only has the first sata port enabled!!!
You need to go into the bios f2 go to sata.
Enable the last sata port or just enable hem all!
Reboot server.

3. To boot from USB
Plug in the usb before you boot the servergo to the boot options f11
Then go to legacy hard disks, the USB should be listed. Swap the order with the hard disk. Then continue to boot the server.

4. To boot from DVD
Enable the sata port in the bios via f2
Reboot the server
Change the boot order in the boot bios thing? Under f11

5. Quality of DVDs
Get the best quality you can get. The cheep ones would just not boot!
Eventually got some tdk DVD+R that worked on one server. It then refused to work on the next!!!!!
Had to burn another to get it to work. Same iso file.
The first DVD if compared to the freshly burned appears to have rings similar to an onion?
the freshly burned worked first time.

6 stuck on the bios version 1.1.1 screen.
This appears to be related to it having dificulty reading the DVD. It would hand for ages before finally booting to the hard disk.

Would be easier if avaya just sent out a blank server. First thing I would expect any good engineer to do would be to load new software on them anyway.

Avaya's instructions were boot from DVD check the order in the bios.

Other gotcha that I found recently on the application server is it runs as a dhcp server.
You need to access it with manager then you can turn it off.

Is this documented anywhere?

SOLUTION!!
Re-image your new Avaya Server Edition Server 9.0 to 9.1.
So yes, technically the controller for the DVD drive is not installed. However, searching thru Dell's forums I've discovered how to boot from a USB. Make sure your bootable usb with 9.1 is plugged in before proceeding with these steps. Here is the link to the thread:

Here are the steps:
The R210II has a slightly different bios from other 11g systems, here are the steps to boot to usb.

1. during bootup, press F11 when prompted in the upper right corner

2. Select Boot Settings then press <Enter> key.

3. Select Set Legacy HardDisk Drive Order then press <Enter> key.

4. Select HardDisk Drive #00 then press <Enter> key.

5. Select USB device what you want to boot then press <Enter> key.

6. You will see the HDD boot order has been changed.

7. Press <ESC> key and press <Y> key to save the HDD boot order.

8. Select HardDisk group then press <Enter> key to boot to the USB drive.

Avaya, include this somewhere!!!

Thanks for posting the solution

The appsserver IP settings can be set while installing it.
Clicking next, next next will cause this problem.
When you set the FQDN for the server there is an network option on the left bottom.
