If you're using CE9, then the only thing you can do is to create an event based 'Failure' report that is set to an SMTP email destination. The report would be triggered by the failure of the critical report. Since this is a kluge, you really only want to do this for a few, highly critical reports
Otherwise, I'd recommend using the 'Instance Manager' sample that comes with Crystal Enterprise. You can launch it from the Crystal Enterprise Launchpad (I'd save it as a favorite). The URL is typically
ok thnx rhinok. i think the instance manager will help out some. we are planning on upping to crystal 10. but lord knows when. hell 11 will probably be out before we get to 10. but in the mean time ill see if this helps me. thnx again

If I read the docs correctly, the alert notification only is applicable to Alerts defined in the Report..If the report fails to run, it will never trigger the notification...
