selecting a particular line from an analog extension

Hello,
We have analogue phones installed T7000 type (without display).
We have 6 external lines installed, and from the secretary phone, I can select a particular line from these 6 by pressing the corresponding button.
How can I select an external line (external line 4 for ex.) from the analog phone ?

Hello Codrut

The only way I know would be to assign each line it's own access code. This could be either a line pool number or a individual routing table number entry such as 81,82 etc.

Do all of your external lines have a different telephone number?.

The only setting that is active now is 9.
that means, if I want to make a call, i press 9, and the pbx serve the first external line available.
But, I don't want to use 9, instead, i want to choose a particular external line.

The need comes from the fact that I have unlimited free international calls only on that external line.

You could set up route and destination code
Route 1 = line 1
Route 2 = Line 2
etc

Destination = 81 points to Route 1, absorb 2
Destination = 82 points to Route 2, absorb 2
etc

FYI if it to answer calls for them - Typically reception would park the call FEATURE 74 and it starts at 101, analog user simply intercoms 101 to retrieve the parked call.
You cannot get a line that already has a call on hold.

What we have as PBX is a BCM50.
So what you say, is programming in the BCM50 the routes, and after that to use the 81:8n number from the analogue phone to take the particular external line ?

That is correct. Once the routes and destinations are programmed, you'll dial 8n on the phone to access the line you want.

allworx I think the only way that will work is if each line is in it's own line pool. So if they change to that then it would take 9 + number away.

yes hawks, that is the problem now. I can only take a line with 9+ number.
Which is not good because it serves the first available line. Or, I want to access a particular line to make the call.

The only way I know of is to put that line in a pool by itself and access it that way.

Assign your line to pool B
Go to line pool access codes and assign 8 as the pool code.
Then go to your extn an assign pool B to it.

Now when the analogue extn dials 8 they will pick up just this line
When they dial 9 they pick up the other lines.

First, T7000 phones are not analog - they are digital phones with no display and 4 programmable buttons.

Now, if I understand the description correctly, you have five external lines that do not have unlimited international calls and one external line that has unlimited international calls. If that's the case, you want to split the 6 lines into two pools - one for NA calling (5 lines) and the other one for international calls (1 line).

To achieve that, you can simply change the configuration of Line 6 (or whichever line has the free international calls) to belong to Line Pool B and leave the remaining 5 lines in the default Line Pool A. You already have the system configured to access the Line Pool A using the access code 9. You can set up another access code - for example 8 - to use the Line Pool B. Once that is done, you'd have to instruct the users to dial 9 followed by a number for NA calls and 8 followed by an international number for international calls.

If you don't like the second access code, you could set up routing of calls that start with 011 via Line Pool B.

Now, back to the programmable keys on the T7000 phones - if you have an unused key (or a key with an unused feature) on these phones, you could program that key to select Line Pool B and let the users know that they can either dial 8 or press this programmable key when dialing international calls.

Finally, do you have any idea if there is an updated software available that is working on Windows 7/8 ?
I only have BCM Elements manager that seems to work exclusively on XP.

Use what is available on your BCM, it gets updated as you update your BCM software and/or patches
