Hi All,

I am due to to change an SD card on a live system tonight, the customer tried to do this a week ago while on the phone to me. I advised them for a system shut down and replace the SD card, I was expecting the system to come up as a new default system. But it didn't..... I advised to keep a ping going then you could push the config back at the system.

Does anyone have a procedure for swapping out a SD card on an IP500v2?

The reason for this is that they had licenses on it to transfer to another site. Avaya want this SD card back asap as they don't want duplicate licenses being used.

Thanks,
Chris

Download config. Shut down. Swap sd. Start up ipo. Upgrade to same release. Upload config. Delete obsolete licenses. Paste new licenses in.

You could also go the route of just shutting down the sd card and leaving the ipo on. This is in your install manual in your embedded file manager.

'Look- one of ours out of the main hold!'

Thanks for the info,

That's how I would do it, maybe the customer might of done something wrong. Hence why the IPO never came up.

So you can actually just remove the SD card why the system is running?

Thanks,
Chris

If you shut the card down first.
Manual...in embedded file management...

Hello,

I went onsite yesterday to try and replace the SD card, the system is not happy at all with the new one. I tried changing the SD card while the system was live. Once the unit was rebooted it never came back up, I put the original back in so the system came up again.

I then give the IPO a graceful shutdown and changed the card and powered it back on. Again the system never booted up.

Then I thought ok lets try one more thing, I put the original SD card back in and Erased the config and returned it to factory. I swapped out the SD cards and the system never came up. I put the original back in and it came up as a blank system. (As I would have expected when creating a new config)

At this point I called it a day and restored the config back to the original SD card and the system is back up and running as it should. I brought the new SD card back with me to test on our own 500V2 and the same thing happens. (The unit fails to boot up) I can plug the SD card into my laptop and read everything on it. I can only guess there is something missing which stops the unit from booting.

If anyone has any ideas I would be greatful. If only I had of thought yesterday I would have took the file structure from the working SD card and copied it across.

Thanks,
Chris

Just formatted the SD card and re-created it. Still no joy.

My suspicions would be on the new SD card. Its probably been reformatted at some point using a tool other than IP Office Manager. That removes some card settings that identify the card as being genuine and tell the system what type of card it is.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Yes I believe so.

I've reformatted again and rebuilt it, and now the system is pinging (y). Hoping the config will go across and reboot properly. Upgrade the binaries on it and send it to the customer for a swap.

Fingers crossed.

Chris

Did you get some information in SysMon? If you formatted the card with windows explorer you have a new card for your photo camera. The dongle number is lost and you can't get it back. So you should see messages that tell you that it is not an IPO dongle SD card or something else.

Sanity check this

then this

just to make sure you are doing everything in the correct order. You may just be missing one of the steps in the second link like removing the config before inserting the card.

APSS (SME)
ACSS (SME)
ACIS (UC)

Yeah I already did those steps,

I had the system up and running and licenses were stated as "valid" I never planned to format it using thr computer.

Thanks,
Chris
