SCN using Public IP Addresses and NAT 2

can you clarify you question?

I mean you usually setup a VPN with a pubic IP, depending on the provider. You still need private IPs on the IPO 500's, but then you point them both through the VPN tunnel to make the connection for SCN.

Basically what I am trying to see is if I can use public IP addresses in the IPO Programming, and then use NAT on the firewalls at each end for the required ports, this is instead of using a VPN and the private IPs.

I had a play yesterday between my office and my data centre, and whilst I could get an H323 line to connect okay and I could make calls across it I couldnt get any speech - the firewalls were setup with an allow all rule between the two locations public IPs - so nothing was being blocked.

Just to confirm I am not planning on using this with a customer I was just curious

This is what websocket is designed for if I remember correctly.
In any case, yes, It can be done. I've done it for a giggle. It works. I've done VMPRO over the WAN too. It works. But like...don't do it.
