I have a SCN with 9 sites and every now and then one of the sites will not be able to be reached by extension even though the IP calls still work and the site that can not be reached can still cal the other sites.
The system that can not be called will re-send its extensions to the other sites after a reboot but i hate making customers reboot their systems. Is there some other way to make a system reach out to its SCN members?

Create system shortcodes.

It's people like you who generalize.

CarGoSki, that is too easy and not a solution to the problem :)

What version are you on ?
What kond of systems do you have ?
How are your iplines configured, star or mesh ?

The description of the problem is a bit too vague and open to interpretation.

The fact that the problem switch can still make calls implies that it less an SCN signalling issue and more a VoIP/IP routing problem (or maybe that old bugbear of VCM channels getting locked up over time).

You really need to say a little about what type of IP Office and what level of software?

When the problems occurs do the switches still list extensions on other systems in their directory.

If hopefully, you have IP Office Release 5, then the SCN view provided by Monitor is very good. It will show all the other SCN switches that an IP Office knows about and the state of the SCN updates between them.

Otherwise a peak at the System Status of the problem system.

Sure but it only took two words and one compound word so I win! ;)

You are a bit lazy :)

Perhaps you are unaware that brevity is the soul of wit and KISS solutions. [afro2]

I see this from time to time. What version are all the systems on? Also, is it the same sites that seems to be effected each time?

I was having this problem on a 4.2.17 SCN.

I also had a problem with a 5 site SCN which regularly uses Remote Hotdesking. Occasionally users couldn't log in at remote sites. SCN was all up and running fine and users showing in the directory. Weirdly it would log the user in and the log No User in on top of it... Avaya couldn't work it out and suggested we Mesh. It's been stable for just over a month now...

Don't ask me, I didn't design it.

they are all 5.0.8 ip 500s connected over satellite. The affected system's extensions will not show up on the directory of the other systems but will show the other system's extensions in it's directory.
I only know that because the customer sent me system configs because they have not allowed me into their network yet so havent gotten to look at the system status.

Yeah, I've seen this happen but still not worked out what causes it. I don't think it's software level related as I have a 5 sit SCN on 5.0.8 and not one has dropped off. But I could be wrong.

If you find out what causes this I'd like to hear about it!
