I’m running a 8.1(43) SCN with 2 sites that’s about to grow to 5 and issues with extension visibility that are about to worsen

Currently, there seems to be no way to make an address visable locally, but not across the SCN. Ie We would like everybody to be able to find each other locally, but only public Groups and some users (ie Managers), not everyone.

Also

We would like to be able to group\view people by site. We’ve cheated currently and make “NY Mike”,”NY Bob”,”FL John”… but trying to dial and search dies at the first space not to mention other problems with voicemail.

Any suggestions, Work arounds or hacks?

Ideally I’d love a the "EX Directory" option to have a All\Local\SCN option and I’d really love the Contacts in the phone to have “Private\Public\All\SCNx\SCNy\...”

Thanks in advance,

Regards,
Mike

your only option
· Ex Directory: Default = Off
When on, the user does not appear in the directory list shown by the user applications and on phones with a directory function.
but that also disables the user being visible on your local machine

sorry local system, was typing two things at once and mixed them up.

In this scenario I would think it's better to use just plain H323 trunks as oppose to SCN and add any users/groups to the directory manually :)

better option as long as you don't need any groups advertised in other systems
