Same area code and local exchange

I tried to search this but didn't get anywhere. I have a Definity 3Gsi. In my area I have an area code from the same state and a local exchange that are the same numbers. When someone tries to dial the newer area code the system sends them to the home area code and local exchange instead of the distant one.

Has anyone else heard of this or know how to fix it? The area code and exchange are 339.

Just off the top of my head, I would create a new route pattern for "1339339"; 11 digits min/max; FNPA.
