I have a customer who has some sip trunks from The Voice Factory, there is an issue when a user has a DDI number diverted back out to another number. The call connects ok but no speech, the SIP provider has added the following notes,

“The issue is simple, on the original inbound call to the PBX, we don't receive any RTP from the PBX, so we can't forward our RTP to the PBX because we don't know where to send it to.

Then when the second call is set up, the PBX can't forward the RTP to the PSTN because the PBX never received the RTP from us.

In order for this to work, the PBX needs to send us some RTP before the redirect happens, this could just be dead air for all we care, we just need an RTP stream returned to us so that we know where to send our RTP to. Can you ask the PBX engineers whether this can be done or not?”

Can anyone advise if this is something we can do?

Enable RTP Keep alive on the IPO.

Under LAN 1 or 2 / VoIP near the bottom.

Keepalives: These settings can be used with SIP trunks associated with the LAN through their Use Network Topology Info setting (Line | Transport). For some scenarios, with frequent call forwarding on the same SIP trunk, speech path may be lost during the connection. The use of periodic keepalive packets may prevent the issue.

· Scope: Default = Disabled
Select whether the sending of keepalive packets should be disabled or sent for RTP or for both RTP and RTCP.

· Periodic timeout: Default = 0 (Off). Range = 0 to 180 seconds.
Sets how long the system will wait before sending a keepalive if no other packets of the select SCOPE are seen.

· Initial keepalives: Default = Disabled.
If enabled, keepalives can also been sent during the initial connection setup.

I had the same issue, and solved it by enabling RTP Keepalive.

System > Lan x > Voip.

Keepalives RTP.
Initial keepalive Enable.

Thanks Guys!!!

Just done this and it now works!

Thanks for your help..
