Routing breakout/operator calls

Hi all,

I am stumped trying to figure out the best way to set up my breakout/operator routing. We don't have a full time operator/receptionist, so we need a special way to route calls that go into voicemail and come out when the caller presses "0".

The way we'd like it to work is to first try the part-time operator. If she doesn't pick up, or if she has set herself to send all calls (or possibly night mode if that helps), then the calls are sent to a separate hunt group. The calls need to then follow the rules of this separate hunt group. That's where I get stuck. The calls do go to this separate hunt group, but if they don't pick up the calls just ring and ring instead of going down that hunt group's fallback setup.

Is there any way to remedy this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

FYI - I am running IP Office 3.2.55.

Thanks!

The call will always follow the rules of the first hunt-group, not the overflow group. You need to manipulate the first hunt-group however you want the call to ultimately route.

That's what I was afraid of. I did come up with an idea just a short while ago though. I turned on voicemail for the Operator hunt group and then went into VM Pro and set "Leave" action to transfer back to the original operator's extension with a pound sign before it. This transfers directly to that operator's voicemail box.

So I guess that's just how it is going to work. Thanks for the input.

Have you got VM Pro.
May be worth routing the calls through this first.

So when 0 is selected you can do either a user variable check or a time and date check and then make the call go to the desired transfer destination.
